What we achieve

We help Mediterranean towns and cities become greener, healthier, and more livable by improving the way green spaces are designed and used. Parks, gardens, and urban green areas are not just beautiful – they’re essential for our health and the planet.

We believe in community-powered change. Citizens, local authorities, and organizations come together to co-create better public spaces. Through workshops, surveys, and hands-on activities, everyone has a say in how green areas grow and evolve.

We promote solutions that work with nature, not against it – like using plants to cool down cities, reduce air pollution, or prevent flooding. These Nature-Based Solutions make towns more resilient to climate change and improve everyday life.

A model for the future

pilot area of Real Urban Green project

We’re working in 8 pilot areas across Europe, from small historic villages to larger cities. Each place tests different ideas and strategies, adapted to its climate and community. These real-world experiments help us understand what works best, and why.

By 2027, we will have developed a practical and flexible model that any local authority in the Euro-MED area can use to transform their green spaces. This model includes tools, guides, and real examples to support others in following the same path.

More than just greenery, RealUrbanGreen builds stronger connections between people and their environment. The project encourages long-term cooperation between citizens, public institutions, and experts to care for and improve our shared spaces, together.
