Real Urban Green: new visions for urban green spaces in small villages

02/07/2025

How can small villages enhance urban green spaces in a sustainable, participatory, and innovative way?

This is the central question guiding Real Urban Green, a European project, involving communities, municipalities, and professionals in the regeneration of urban green spaces in rural and peri-urban contexts.

Today, more than ever, green public spaces are a valuable asset—not only for citizens’ physical and mental well-being, but also as a tool for climate adaptation, biodiversity protection, and community building.
That’s why Real Urban Green promotes replicable models and practical tools to design, manage, and experience parks, gardens, green squares, and underused or abandoned areas in a new way.

Our approach is clear:

  • Engage citizens in co-designing and caring for green spaces
  • Integrate nature-based solutions and light technologies
  • Empower small municipalities as active players in the ecological transition

The project involves partners from across Europe, but it is rooted in the uniqueness of Italian villages—bringing innovation to places often left out of urban development policies.

Real Urban Green is also a platform for exchange, where best practices, experiences, and ideas circulate. A physical and digital space where beauty meets sustainability, and greenery becomes not just a background… but a protagonist of the future.

Follow the project updates and discover the villages that are already transforming green spaces into real opportunities for better living and environmental balance.
